3rd Regiment of the Cap abandons Les Roches; Gatéau’s column occupies it

On 18 May 1865 the 3rd regiment of the Cap was guarding this position for Salnave but abandoned it; a column of government troops occupied it immediately under the orders of General Norbert Gatéau. A few resolute men could have stopped President Geffrard’s army at the Roches.

Rouzier tells this under the entry ROCHES (les).
