1796: Attack from shore on the Young Tom (voyage 84101)

On a slaving voyage in 1796, the Young Tom was attacked from the shore. The people aboard had been taken at West Central Africa and St. Helena.

The record gives the numbers as: 359 people were embarked.

Captain: Evans, Jenkin. Flag: Great Britain. Recorded outcome, in the database’s words: “cut off by Africans from shore, ship did not reach the Americas.”
