1794: Insurrection aboard the Venus (voyage 25794)

On a slaving voyage in 1794, the people aboard the Venus rose against the crew. They had been taken at Gorée.

The record gives the numbers as: 149 people were embarked.

Captain: Hammond. Flag: USA. Recorded outcome, in the database’s words: “taken by slaves, vessel recaptured, unknown outcome.”
