1793-Jun.-10: Santhonax and Polverel arrived at Cape François from Port-au-Prince and challenged Governor Galbaud’s authority on the grounds that he was a proprietor of a local coffee plantation. They cited a national decree that prohibited owners of Caribbean estates from holding government office in the same colony.
