1793-1798: Foreign Military Intervention (Spain & Britain): British forces occupied parts of the southern and western provinces of Saint Domingue as well as the strategic port of Môle Saint-Nicolas. During this international phase of the revolution, the British maintained slavery within the territories they controlled. Significance: Internationalized the revolution and transformed it into a global imperial conflict.
