1791-Mar.: Following his declaration, Jacques Ogé was executed at the Cape on March 9, 1791, along with twenty of his accomplices. His testimony was kept secret by the colonial administration until late 1791, a delay that contemporary critics argued prevented the timely arrest of other revolutionary leaders.
