1767-Jan.-14: M. Charrier, a merchant in Cap-Français, offered for sale a group of enslaved blacksmiths along with a functional forge and all related equipment. Skilled enslaved artisans were among the most valuable assets in the colony, providing the necessary mechanical labor for plantations and urban construction. The sale of a complete forge setup indicates a significant liquidation of industrial capacity within the district. These specialized laborers were often rented out or sold at a premium due to their technical expertise.
