1766-Sept. (beg.): The King of Spain received an official visit from the Moroccan Ambassador in a plain between St. Ildefonse and Segovia. During the meeting, the Ambassador presented the King with four horses and twelve camels and dromedaries as gifts from his court. This diplomatic exchange fostered hopes for a lasting treaty of friendship between Spain and the North African power. Such international alignments were significant to Saint-Domingue due to their potential impact on Mediterranean and Atlantic trade security.
