Penalties
Titre VIII: Des Délits et des Peines (Offenses and Penalties)

Tout individu prévenu de vol d'animaux, tels que bœufs, chevaux, mulets, et autres bêtes de somme, ou des outils aratoires, sera traduit pardevant les tribunaux, pour être poursuivi et jugé selon les articles 21 et 22, du Titre premier de la Loi criminelle.

Life lesson: Stealing a man's ox or his plow is not petty theft — it is an attack on his livelihood. The criminal courts, not the parish judge, will hear this case.
