L'exhaussement du mur mitoyen est permis à tout copropriétaire; mais il est tenu de payer, de ses seuls deniers, la dépense en résultante, les réparations d'entretien au-dessus de la hauteur de la clôture commune, et en outre l'indemnité de la charge, en raison de l'exhaussement et suivant la valeur.

Life lesson: Raise the party wall if you wish — but pay for it alone, maintain the added height yourself, and compensate your neighbor for the added burden.
Notes: Right to raise party wall (exhaussement): unilateral right, but sole financial responsibility for construction, maintenance above common height, and compensation for increased burden. Cf. Code Napoléon Art. 658.
