Chapitre I: De l'Usufruit (On Usufruct)

Les dettes pour la garantie desquelles un fonds est hypothéqué, ne sont pas à la charge de l'usufruitier à titre particulier. Dans le cas où il serait forcé de les payer, un juste recours lui est assuré contre le propriétaire, sauf ce qui est dit au Titre des Donations et des Testamens.

Life lesson: Mortgage debts are the owner's burden, not the particular usufructuary's. If forced to pay, the usufructuary has full recourse against the owner.
Notes: Mortgage debts: not chargeable to usufructuary by particular title. Forced payment → right of recourse against owner. Exception per Donations/Testaments title. Cf. Code Napoléon Art. 613.
