Chapitre I: De l'Usufruit (On Usufruct)

Dans le cas où l'usufruitier ne peut fournir caution, les immeubles sont mis en séquestre ou donnés à ferme, les denrées sont vendues, le prix en provenant est placé ainsi que le montant des sommes comprises dans l'usufruit; dans cette hypothèse, les intérêts de ces sommes et le prix des fermes reviennent de droit à l'usufruitier.

Life lesson: Cannot post security? The property is sequestered or leased, the goods sold and invested — but the income still flows to the usufructuary. The right survives, even when trust does not.
Notes: Failure to furnish security: immovables sequestered or leased; commodities sold and proceeds invested; sums placed at interest. Usufructuary retains right to interest and lease income. Cf. Code Napoléon Art. 602.
