Chapitre I: Du Droit d'accession relativement aux Choses immobilières (On the Right of Accession Relative to Immovable Things)

Tout propriétaire d'un terrain qui aura employé des matériaux d'autrui à des constructions, plantations, établissemens et autres ouvrages, en devra payer la valeur, et sera condamné aux dommages et intérêts, s'il y a lieu; mais le propriétaire des matériaux n'a pas le droit de les faire enlever, et il est tenu de les revendiquer dans les délais fixés pour la réclamation des choses mobilières.

Life lesson: Use another's materials on your land, and you must pay — but those materials, once incorporated, cannot be ripped out. The soil absorbs them, and the law ratifies what nature has joined.
Notes: Landowner using another's materials: must pay value + damages, but materials cannot be removed once incorporated. Owner of materials limited to monetary claim within movable property prescription periods. Accession principle prevails over material ownership.
