Tout faux, toute altération dans les actes de l'état civil, toute contravention aux dispositions de la présente loi seront punis d'une amende de deux cens gourdes, qui sera versée dans la caisse des octrois, sans préjudice aux dommages et intérêts des parties, s'il y a lieu, et aux peines portées aux lois pénales.

Notes: 200-gourde fine for any falsification or violation of civil registration law, plus civil damages and criminal penalties. The fine goes to the octroi (municipal tax fund), not the royal treasury — a local reinvestment mechanism.
