Titre I: De la Publication, des Effets et de l'Application des Lois en général (On the Publication, Effects, and Application of Laws in General)

La loi n'a point d'effet rétroactif.

Life lesson: Justice cannot punish yesterday's act by today's rule. A society that changes the rules after the game is played has no rules at all.
Notes: A foundational legal principle borrowed from the French Civil Code (Art. 2). Protects citizens from ex post facto punishment.
