Il faut un titre authentique et exécutoire d'une dette certaine et liquide, pour que l'on puisse faire vendre les immeubles d'un débiteur ; et pour une créance non liquidée, les poursuites seront valables, mais l'adjudication des biens ne se fera qu'après la liquidation.

Life lesson: You need a notarized, enforceable debt to force-sell property. For unliquidated claims, you can start proceedings but the actual sale waits until the amount is fixed.
Notes: Forced sale prerequisites: authentic title + enforceable + certain + liquid debt. Unliquidated claims: proceedings valid but adjudication deferred until liquidation.
