De l'Adoption

Family Law
Titre VII: De l'Adoption et de la Tutelle officieuse (On Adoption and Official Guardianship)
Chapitre I: De l'Adoption (On Adoption)

Life lesson: The adopter's right of return is personal — it dies with him. His heirs cannot reach beyond the grave to reclaim what he once gave.
Notes: Personal reversionary right: if the adoptee's descendants die without issue, the surviving adopter reclaims donated property. But this right is strictly personal — it expires with the adopter and cannot be inherited. Prevents perpetual reversionary claims from distorting property distribution across generations.
