Chapitre IV: Des Obligations du Vendeur (On the Obligations of the Seller)

La garantie du vendeur à l'égard de l'acquéreur, a deux objets : 1°. La possession paisible de la chose vendue ; 2°. Les défauts cachés de cette chose, ou les vices rédhibitoires.

Life lesson: The seller guarantees two things: that you'll possess the thing in peace, and that it has no hidden defects.
Notes: Two branches of warranty: (1) against eviction (peaceful possession), (2) against hidden defects (vices rédhibitoires).
