Chapitre I: De l'Adoption (On Adoption)

Pour pouvoir adopter, il faut être âgé de plus de cinquante ans, avoir quinze ans de plus que les individus qu'on adopte, et être privé d'enfant et de descendans légitimes ; cependant, aucuns nobles, sous quelques prétextes et pour quelques raisons que ce puissent être, ne pourront adopter quelqu'individu que ce soit, sans une permission expresse du roi.

Life lesson: Adoption is for those who have no heirs and have lived long enough to know the weight of the choice. Nobles must ask the king — because adoption among the powerful reshapes the kingdom.
Notes: Strict adoption requirements: 50+ years old, 15-year age gap, no legitimate descendants. Special restriction on nobles — royal permission required. Prevents adoption from being used to manipulate noble succession or create dynastic alliances without the king's oversight.
