A mulatto and 6 enslaved persons escaped from Cayes during the night of June 14th to 15th in a native canoe of mahogany wood belonging to Sieur Jacifié; namely, Basile, a mulatto from Curaçao, unbranded, a cordwainer, of slight build and very thin, belonging to Sieur Hubert, Treasurer of the Marine at that location; Tam, Congo nation, unbranded, canoeist, speaking the patois of Curaçao, approximately 25 years of age, belonging to Sieur Merlin, named at that location; Louis, creole of Guadeloupe, branded IOUÉ, a sailmaker, with reddish skin, belonging to Sieur Joué, Store-keeper at Cavaillon; François, creole of Curaçao, unbranded, a caulker, pockmarked from smallpox, with sunken eyes, belonging to Sieur Chinon, the younger; Jean-Baptiste, called Manuel, also creole of Curaçao, branded P. BENECH, 35 years of age, heavily bearded, a cordwainer at that location; Baptiste, same nation, unbranded, 27 years of age, belonging to Sieur du Gravier, planter at Anglois; Francisque, same country, unbranded, a cooper, belonging to Sieur Jouanoux. Those who recognize them are requested to have them arrested and to give notice to the aforementioned Sieurs Hubert, Merlin, &c. at Cayes.

A griff named Guillaume, a skilled mason, height of 5 feet 5 to 6 inches, very thin, small head, missing teeth on the front, belonging to the plantation of the minor Carbon, at Bois-de-Lance, has been maroon since March 2nd. Those who recognize him are requested to have him arrested and to give notice to M. Aubert, merchant at Cape, or to M. du Petit-Thouars, on the said plantation.

A Mina Negro man, aged 24 years, height 5 feet 3 inches, branded COMMUNY, departed as maroon from the Habitation Communy, at Grande-Riviere, on April 9 last. Those who recognize him are requested to have him arrested and to give notice to the Sieur Laserre, at said Habitation, or to M. Robillard, Planter at Quartier-Morin: there will be reward.

Un Negre machoquet de son métier, étampé QUINTRAUD en fer à cheval, âgé de 20 à 25 ans, taille de 5 pieds 5 pouces, est parti maron aussi-tôt après le décès du Sieur Quintraud, dit Comtois, son maître. Ceux qui le reconnoîtront, sont priés de le faire arrêter & d'en donner avis à Me Lacassagne, gérant ladite succession, au Fort-Dauphin.

A Creole Negress, aged approximately 45 years, branded DORDOQVI coming from the succession of the late Sieur Pierre Gautier, Planter at Jean-Rabel, which fell to M. Jean-Baptiste Gautier, Planter at Moustique, who sold her to the wife of Sieur Bellanger, Tailor at Jean-Rabel, who subsequently resold her to M. Chandeau, Planter at said place, ran away as a maroon on the 24th of last month, with her son, named Paul, aged approximately 18 years, branded CHANDEAU; said Negress, daughter of the one named Marie, claiming to be free and inhabitant at Moustique, although enslaved and dependent on the succession of said late Pierre Gautier. Those who recognize them are requested to have them arrested and to give notice to said Sieur Chandeau, at Jean-Rabel.

A Congo Negro, named François, without brand, aged approximately 30 years, height of 5 feet, much marked by smallpox, cross-eyed, having poor sight and speaking the language of Curaçao, has been a maroon since the 27th of last month. Those who recognize him are requested to have him arrested and to give notice to M. Servin, Planter at Côtelettes or to M. Beaupré, Merchant at Cap, who will pay the reward.

A Congo Negro, named Noël, called Marseille, cook by trade, branded on the breast DE CHEVRY and below DROUIN ET PHIL, ugly of face, ruddy complexion, aged 26 to 28 years, height of 5 feet 4 to 5 inches, belonging to Sieur Petit, Refiner on the Plantation of Mme de Seguiran, at Limbé, ran away as a maroon on the 1st of this month. Those who recognize him are requested to have him arrested and to give notice to said Sieur Petit, or to Messrs Dedieu & Bondoire, Merchants at Cap: there will be a reward.

A new Negro, named Jacques, Mandingue nation, without brand, aged approximately 21 years, height of 5 feet 3 inches, knowing how to speak French a little, & bearing a small burn mark on the stomach, left as a maroon approximately one month ago. Those who recognize him are requested to have him arrested & give notice to Monsieur Plagne, Merchant at Cap, place de Clugny.

A Negro named Lafortune, Sofo or Congo nation, aged approximately 33 years, branded on the right breast RONCHE & with some other illegible brand, bearing a wound on the right leg & scars on both legs, resulting from an old wound, left as a maroon 10 days ago from the residence of Mistress Laplace, Captain at Cap, his master, with only a single shirt & a linen breeches that he had on his body, which were stained with mercury, this Negro being then under treatment. Those who recognize him are requested to have him arrested & give notice to his master who will give 66 pounds as reward.

A Creole Negro named Petro, branded MICHEL, ran away as a maroon from Haut-du-Trou approximately two months ago. Those who recognize him are requested to have him arrested and to give notice to Sieur Michel, Planter at Haut-du-Trou, to whom he belongs, or to his brother at the Cape, rue Saint-Domingue.

An English Negro named Jacques, five feet three to four inches tall, fairly well built, good-looking, large feet, branded LATASTE, ran away as a maroon on the 23rd of May last. Those who recognize him are requested to have him arrested and to give notice to Sieur Itey, Cooper at the Cape, to whom he belongs.

Félicité or Anne, nation Arada, branded on both breasts BONNIER, aged 35 to 40 years, height of 5 feet 2 inches, keeping herself neat, & speaking much of France where she has been, having reddish skin & marks of her country on each cheek. Those who have any knowledge of her are asked to give notice to M. Gauthau, at Port-au-Prince, & to M. Bion, at Léogane.

A Negro, English-born, named Prince, aged about 22 years, height of 5 feet 5 inches, of strong build, having many recent marks of smallpox & a limp in his right leg, not knowing how to speak French, departed as a maroon on 3 July. Those who have any knowledge of him are asked to have him arrested & to give notice to Sieur Berard, Apothecary at Port-au-Prince: there will be a reward.

Jean-Juste, Creole, unbranded, 20 years of age, 5 feet 3 to 4 inches tall, very black, pretty of face, nose somewhat flattened; left as a maroon about two years ago, or it is suspected he was taken by force: Jean-Baptiste called Lafleur, Mandingue, unbranded, 36 years of age, 5 feet 3 to 4 inches tall, well-proportioned in frame, fairly pretty of face, having a small scar on the side of the neck; and François called Chacha, Creole, branded on one breast CADUC, below it INE, and on the other illegibly CADUC, 18 to 20 years of age, 5 feet tall; both departed as maroons on the 17th of last month: Jean-Pierre, Creole, branded on one breast CADUC, 21 years of age, 5 feet 3 to 4 inches tall, reddish of skin, fairly pretty of face, having large feet; departed as a maroon on the 18th of that month; and François, Congo, freshly branded on the right breast CADUC, 42 years of age, 4 feet 7 to 8 inches tall, very black, lacking front teeth. It is presumed that these four latter Negroes have united with the first. Those with any knowledge of them are asked to report to M. Caduc, Planter at Cayes-du-Fond.

A Carteron from Martinique, aged 18 to 20 years, standing 5 feet 2 to 3 inches tall, with an elongated face, reddish hair, small blue eyes, decayed teeth, and heavily marked by smallpox, ran away as a maroon during the night of the 28th to 29th of last month: anyone with information should contact Messrs Furtado brothers, Cousin & company. Dampaché or Scipion, Congo, branded LGD, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall, well-built; Casimir, called Zomba, Congo, branded TB, aged about 18 to 20 years, of average height, pleasant of face; both purchased at the bar of the Siège on the 12th of March last, ran away as maroons on the 12th of June from the plantation of Messrs Godet & Tausia Bournos at Jean-Rabel: anyone with information should notify the said plantation. There will be a reward.
