Toussaint writes to Biassou, one of his earliest surviving letters

Haitian

On 15 October 1791, seven weeks into the insurrection, Toussaint Louverture wrote to Georges Biassou, one of the commanders of the rebel camps in the North. It is among the earliest documents in his hand that survive, from the period when he was still a subordinate officer of the revolt.
