Toussaint-Louverture is born on the Bréda habitation

Bréda. Habitation in the rural section of the Haut-du-Cap, commune of the Cap-haïtien, on which Toussaint-Louverture was born on 20 May 1743, that nègre of genius whom politics and extraordinary circumstances called to govern the entire island of Haïti for France. He had first been a veterinarian on the habitation, which explains the title of physician to the king that he took in 1793.
