The Guaybona encomienda cédula is issued at La Concepción, countersigned by Arce
… whom I entrust to you that you may serve yourself of them in your estates, and mines, and enterprises, as and according to what Their Highnesses command, in conformity with their ordinances, keeping them in all and for all, as and according to what is contained in them, and while you keep them, I entrust them to you for your life and for the life of one heir, son or daughter, if you should have one, because otherwise Their Highnesses do not entrust them to you, nor do I in their name entrust them to you: with the warning that I make to you, that, if you do not keep the said ordinances, the said Indians will be taken from you. The charge of conscience for the time that you hold them, and serve yourself of them, shall fall upon your conscience and not upon that of Their Highnesses, besides your falling and incurring the other penalties said and declared in the said ordinances. Made in the city of la Concepción, on the 7th day of the month of December of 1514. Rodrigo de Alburquerque. By order of the said lord Apportioner, Alonso de Arce.”
