Testard du Cosquier is consecrated
Haitian
Two apostolic legates came in succession to Port-au-Prince to prepare the execution of the treaty of 28 March: Monsignor Monetti, bishop of Cervia, toward the end of 1860, and Monsignor Testard du Cosquier, parish priest of Notre-Dame du Carmel at Brest, at the beginning of 1862. The latter returned to Rome after fulfilling his mission, before the end of the same year. On the presentation of the President of Haiti, he was preconized archbishop of Port-au-Prince in the consistory of 1 October 1863, and consecrated in the church of Saints John and Paul on the 18th of the same month. At once he set himself to fulfil the task that had just been entrusted to him.
Rouzier tells this under the entry HAÏTI: the general article.
