Steamship line contract is dated

Haitian

The contract binding the owner of this line of boats is dated 19 August 1886, and will end on 19 August 1895. The government has the right to requisition the boats on behalf of the State, at 250 piastres per day per boat. At the expiry of the contract, the government, urged by public opinion to carry out the law, will put out to competition, a year in advance, the concession, which will be granted on the most advantageous terms for the development of the relations of all the towns with the capital. Serious proposals will be made to it for a progressive service of the ports of the coast, or else the concessionaire of this service will have to renew and increase its equipment in order to keep its privilege. The postal service will be assigned to these boats. With greater facilities of communication, with more convenient and faster means of transport, relations will extend further along the coasts, where almost all the towns are situated, and in the interior, as well as with the Dominican Republic.

Rouzier tells this under the entry HAÏTI: Tables.
