Secretary General Inginac forbids unauthorized wood cutting on La Tortue and La Gonâve

Haitian

On 24 April 1825 the secretary general, B. Inginac, issued a notice announcing that, the government having never conceded or alienated any land in the islands of the Gonâve and the Tortue and others that depend on the territory of the Republic and form part of the domains of the State, he was warning those who had set up timber cuttings without the authorization of the president of Haiti that they were forbidden to continue them or to make new ones, since these woods were reserved for the service of the arsenals and public buildings.

Rouzier tells this under the entry TORTUE (la).
