Rigaud’s deportation was ordered, on the strength of a letter he had written to Laplume.

The order of deportation, dated 7 germinal (28 March), was grounded on a letter which Rigaud had addressed to Laplume on 20 ventôse (11 March) (1), a few days before his departure, in the train of General Leclerc, for Crête-à-Pierrot.
