Rigaud is repulsed at the Desrivaux camp by the royalist Jérémie colonists
Haitian
On 19 June 1793, Rigaud, with 1,500 men reinforced by all the work gangs of the quartier of Petit-Trou de Nippes, going to fight the colonists of Jérémie who had revolted against the authority of the civil commissioners Polvérel and Southonax, approached the camp Desrivaux, a fortification built on a rise of the habitation and bristling with cannon. The Jérémiens (whites), 1,200 in number, had as their leaders the royalist officers Debrosse and Duperrier, who were reinforced by Domingeau. Rigaud was obliged to retreat after losing 300 of his men, among others Jourdain, carried off by a cannonball, and Ignace.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Desrivaux.
