Rigaud drew the army back to Léogane on Laveaux’s order, ending a siege of fifty-five days.
Haitian
Fort Byzoton was bound to fall; unhappily Colonel L’Ouverture, charged with making a diversion against Saint-Marc in favor of Rigaud, had failed completely in his attempt. Laveaux ordered Rigaud to raise the siege of Byzoton. This siege had lasted fifty-five days (2). Rigaud therefore had the army fall back as far as Léogane on 18 prairial (16 June).
