President Hyppolite visits the Brèche de Préval

Haitian

PREVAL. Habitation situated on the bank of the river Artibonite, right bank, commune of St.-Marc. Some forty years ago, following a strong flood of the river, the dike anciently established at Préval was broken. Since then, at each rise of the waters, the plain of the Artibonite finds itself periodically exposed to disastrous floods. On 22 October 1889 President Hyppolite, returning from the Gonaives where he had taken the oath, visited the Brèche de Préval before entering St Marc.

Rouzier tells this under the entry PREVAL.
