Philibert Laraque takes up arms at Jérémie
Haitian
PRASLIN. Habitation situated in the commune of Torbeck, 3 lieues from the Cayes; it belonged to the squadron commander Charles Hérard the elder, who took up arms there against President Boyer on 27 January 1843. It was there that the Manifesto of the revolution was drawn up. The taking up of arms at Praslin was the mortal blow dealt to Boyer’s Government, and saved the taking up of arms of Philibert Laraque at Jérémie on 31 January. See: Corail Praslin.
Rouzier tells this under the entry PRASLIN.
