Pétion takes the fort of La Coupe from the English
Haitian
In December 1797, General Laplume, who commanded at Léogane, ordered Adjutant General Pétion to drive the English from the mornes of the Coupe (Pétion-ville). Pétion set out from Léogane with a strong detachment, followed the Rivière Froide, and reached the heights of the habitation Grenier. On 5 December he took from the English the fort of the Coupe. This success forced the English to abandon Grenier.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Grenier.
