ORDINANCE of the Administrators, which regulates the service of the nègres of the King’s work gang at the Môle

Haitian

JEAN-BAPTISTE de Tastes de Lilancour, etc.

Joseph-Alexandre le Brasseur, etc.

It being necessary to fix in an invariable manner the service of the nègres belonging to the King in the work gang that has been established at the Môle St. Nicolas, We, by virtue of the powers granted to us by His Majesty, have ordered and do order as follows:

ART. I. The Commissaire de la Marine established at the Môle shall alone be in charge of the policing of the King’s nègres, and shall review them, even during working hours, when the good of the service requires it. II. When works have been ordered at the Môle St. Nicolas, the King’s Engineer shall ask the Commissaire de la Marine for the number of men he will need; and in case the Commissaire refuses, he shall be obliged to give his reasons in writing to the Engineer, who shall forward them to the Général and Intendant for provision to be made as is proper.
