Mounted carabineers regiment struck from the army rolls

Haitian

On Saturday 27 January 1837, at 10 o’clock in the evening, Colonel Isidor Gabriel, of the mounted carabineers, at the head of a part of the corps he commanded, seized the arsenal of the Cap by main force. General Léo, then commandant of the arrondissement, marched against the factious and retook the arsenal at the bayonet point. The conspirators took flight. Isidor withdrew to the heights of Sainte-Suzanne (See that entry), where he met his death at the hands of a patrol that was pursuing him. The regiment of mounted carabineers was struck from the rolls of the army on the following 8 February.

Rouzier tells this under the entry Cap-haïtien (le).
