Mimi Bode takes Fort Ça-Ira from Captain Banglo; Geffrard wounded by grapeshot

Haitian

On 14 December of the same year, Mimi Bode took Fort Ça-Ira, which Captain Banglo, commanding for the French, handed over to him. Pétion had it occupied by Geffrard with the 13th colonial. There was at that time in the roadstead of Léogane a schooner commanded by a Black indigène named Lafleur, who still held for the French. The schooner threw several cannonballs into the fort, and came close enough to fire grapeshot at the indigènes who occupied it. Geffrard had his arm shattered by a blast of grapeshot and had to be carried to Sarrebousse. Gérin then took command of the fort, left Sanglaou there, and went to take up a position at Grand-Bassin, between Camp Petit and Fort Ça-Ira, at the spot where the French could attempt a landing.

Rouzier tells this under the entry Ça-Ira.
