Métellus takes command of the fort of Sibert

Haitian

On 23 March 1812, at the 2nd siege of Port-au-Prince by Christophe, General Métellus, arrived in all haste from Léogane, took command of the fort of Sibert with the 11th and 25th regiments, at the approach of the troops of the North. Métellus resisted there for four days. He was obliged to evacuate Sibert with Bergerac Trichet on the 29th, and died of suffocation during the retreat.

Rouzier tells this under the entry SIBERT. Printed 1912; corrected from the page image and the surrounding entries.
