Port-au-Prince. Its special council condemns Bélus Ledoux and others on 24 July.

We have related that the special council of Port-au-Prince had on 24 July condemned Bélus Ledoux to the penalty of death and Pierre-Paul, Bedouet, Thomas Presse, Modé, Napoléon Barjon and Saint-Rémy to three months of prison. The government had not been satisfied with the judgment of the special council. The man condemned to death in absentia and those condemned to three months of imprisonment were banished from the territory of the Republic; and two who had been acquitted were banished to the interior: this was what was called commuting the penalties.
