Jamaica. Rivière Hérard is reported to have left for Kingston to attempt a landing in Haiti.

Meanwhile it was learned at Port-au-Prince that Rivière Hérard had left for Kingston (Jamaica) on 29 March, with the aim of attempting a landing on the coast of Haiti. Many persons had remonstrated with him about his projects, which could only bring about the destruction by fire of many places and the death in battle of a great number of citizens. He had answered: “No matter, the people are calling me!”, alluding to an act of recall of 27 January 1845 which the principal members of the Riviériste party had addressed to him from Port-au-Prince.
