Department of the South. The delegation’s mission there is declared successful.

The government at Port-au-Prince had received a report from the delegation it had sent into the Grand’Anse, to Tiburon and to Les Cayes. By a proclamation of 16 May, Guerrier announced the adherence of all the departments to his authority. He made known in it that the mission of colonel Chardavoine, of captain André Télémaque and of citizen Salomon had succeeded in the South, although Acaau had not yet made his submission. This was to mark him out as a rebel. He wished nonetheless to grant him a satisfaction, so as to draw a little of his confidence; and for this reason he had decreed, by an act dated 21 May, of which we have already spoken, that citizen Rivière Hérard forfeited all right to exercise the rank of general of division, and that citizens Rivière Hérard and Hérard Dumesle were banished from the territory of the Republic. The pension of Rivière Hérard was annulled. Acaau was given to understand that he must be patient with regard to general Lazarre; that the question concerning him would be settled.
