Jacmel. Its citizens award a medal to Dumai Lespinasse.

Since 15 December, some citizens of Jacmel had conceived the idea of sending a medal to Dumai Lespinasse, editor of the journal Le Manifeste and member of the Constituent Assembly. On 10 January 1844 they met and drew up an address announcing to him that they awarded him this medal as a civic New Year’s gift and as homage to his patriotic virtues. Two of them, MM. P. S. Maximilien and M. Thébaud, came to Port-au-Prince and on 17 January delivered the precious object, with the address, to Dumai Lespinasse in the name of their friends of Jacmel.
