Île d’Aix. Missiessy anchors there.

The defeat of the day before had so beaten down the courage of the besieged that they dared not attempt a new sortie, although the fresh troops loudly demanded to march against the enemy. The place was stocked with biscuit, flour and salt meat for more than a year. Rear-admiral Missiessy continued on his way; and although he was pursued by several English squadrons commanded by enterprising officers, he succeeded in reaching the Île d’Aix in the Mediterranean on 20 June 1805 and casting anchor there.
