Le Cap. Official gazette printed there

The captain-general, freed from the anxieties that Toussaint’s resistance had caused him, turned his thoughts to reorganizing the general administration of the colony, and above all to ridding himself of the former governor as soon as possible. On 15 Prairial, Year 10 (5 June), he ordered that an official gazette be printed at Le Cap. This sheet was to give the public the orders and decrees of the captain-general, foreign news, notices, notes on agriculture and commerce, the arrivals in the ports, and the prices of produce both imported and exported. In its first number it celebrated the successes of the government, approved the measures it was taking, and promised the colony a mild and liberal administration. The citizens of Port-Républicain, of Les Cayes and of Santo Domingo were permitted to print in their respective towns small sheets containing only commercial notices.
