Camp Raymond. Held by English and royalist colonists; Desfourneaux beaten there.

At the same time General Desfourneaux had left Les Cayes at the head of a column. The delegates accompanied the army, which came in sight of Camp Raymond on 7 August (20 Thermidor, Year 4). A body of English and royalist colonists held the position. The delegates offered the latter the chance to submit, promising that they would enjoy an amnesty (5 July 1796) which the civil commission had just granted to the royalists. They answered the republicans with musketry; the two sides came to grips, and Desfourneaux, completely beaten, withdrew to Camp Perrin.
