Les Cayes. The assembly of the South is installed there.

The party of independence in the West and the South proceeded in the same manner. In the course of January 1790 the enslavers organized the assembly of the West at Port-au-Prince, as much to further the march of the revolution as to thwart de Peinier, who was forced to take the civic oath to the nation, the law and the king. On the following 15 February the assembly of the South was installed at Les Cayes under the same auspices.
