Lightning splits the citadel walls and ignites a powder magazine
Haitian
At the foot of the citadel of the Ferrière, at Milot, lie the ruins of the splendid palace of Sans-Souci, the residence of the king. The citadel itself is falling into ruin. A stroke of lightning had split the walls in several places on 25 August 1817, setting fire to one of the powder magazines; but the breach was repaired. Prince Noël, brother of the queen, and the prince of Port-au-Prince found their tomb there.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Ferrière (la).
