Leclerc enters Gonaïves
Haitian
Vernet, whom Toussaint-Louverture had left at the Gonaïves, evacuated that town in 1802, after reducing it to ashes, at the approach of Leclerc. Toussaint abandoned his camp of Perisse to go and join him at the Estère bridge. Then Rochambeau emerged into the Savane Désolée and went to the Gonaïves to join Leclerc, who had entered it on 25 February.
Rouzier tells this under the entry SAVANE DESOLEE.
