Jimmy Chérizier born in Delmas, later warlord of the G9
Haitian
Jimmy Chérizier was born in Delmas on 30 March 1977, one of eight children. His father died when he was five; his mother sold fried chicken in the street. He became a police officer, then the most powerful warlord in the country, heading the G9 alliance of more than a dozen armed gangs in Port-au-Prince and calling it an armed revolution. The United States and the United Nations have sanctioned him over massacres including La Saline in 2018. He says the nickname Barbecue comes from his mother’s cooking; others say it comes from burning people alive.
