Jérôme Marc Coutilien Coutard is born at Bellevue

Haitian

Jérôme Marc Coutilien Coutard, who saved the life of President Pétion at the battle of Sibert by putting the gold-braided hat of the head of State on his own head, was born at Bellevue on 10 November 1778. Incorporated into the 4th half-brigade under Toussaint-Louverture, he always distinguished himself by a rare courage. In 1804 he was made lieutenant of grenadiers. At the assassination of Dessalines at Pont Rouge, he was with his company in garrison at Saint-Marc. The horror that Christophe inspired in him was so great that he threw himself into the party of the republicans.

Rouzier tells this under the entry Bellevue N° 1.
