Haiti joins the Universal Postal Union

Haiti has been a member of the International Postal Union since 1 January 1881 (See the Tariff of postage stamps). The letter carriers do not wear the uniform adopted elsewhere. (Law on the establishment of the letter post, of 19 July 1847; Law of 27 June 1881; Decree of 23 June 1881.)
