Government troops under Nord Alexis stormed the plateau at Monbin Crochu
MONBIN CROCHU (le). Former poste militaire of the arrondissement of Trou, [law of 4 September 1881] situated in the commune of Vallière on the borders of la Marmelade and of the Grande Rivière du Nord. (Pignon) It was immortalized by the taking up of arms of the first Cacos in 1867 against Salnave, who had barely disembarked at the Cap after the departure of President Geffrard. An important strategic position. A defile leads to a ravined plateau. Bristling with natural obstacles, this position was guarded by determined men under the orders of old La Monnaie. The government troops, under the orders of General Nord Alexis, took the plateau at the double, on 27 November 1867, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.
Rouzier tells this under the entry MONBIN CROCHU (le).
